The current UFC Welterweight champion is no other than the “Nigerian Nightmare” Kamura Usman.

At his young age of 33 he holds the championship title for the Welterweight division as well as being the first African-American champion to hold this title ever.

Usman is currently and still the undisputed champ until now holding 13 straight wins in a row prior to last night’s event where he proved to the world why he is not only the champ but the “Nigerian Nightmare” as they call him.

While always fighting against only the best in this division Usman defended his title with an intense and outstanding second- round knockout of Jorge Masvidal.

Masdival holds an outstanding record of 35 straight wins, where 17 of those wins have been by decision and 16 of them by complete knock out.

Jorge Masvidal is known to be the best out in the Welterweight and Lightweight division till last night where he was stripped from the Welterweight division by Usman.

Usman has said before that what keeps him going to be the best that he could be is “for me, the fear of losing and going through that again is greater than the thrill of winning” per his experience of tapping out in his second professional match after he won the NCAA Division II wrestling match in May 2013.

He decided he never wanted to feel that way ever again and made it a mission to be the greatest.

“When I compete against another man, I want it to be satisfying in knowing that man respects me for what I do. That’s all it is. I’m satisfied” and once he does, as he mentions knowing he knows he will always be a part of their soul for what he will make them feel.

Usman’s since then has not been defeated not once in his UFC career and this new win, defeating Jorge Masdival is definitely another defining moment in Usman’s career.

It seems now as if Usman is running out of challengers and competitors to fight against now.

Usman is not one to ever back down from any fight and has never declined to fight any opponent, after breaking Colby Convignton’s jaw in the UFC 245 Welterweight division fight in the fifth round back in December 2019.

Now Convignton is asking for a rematch as well, stating “I’m going to take him down into deep waters, and I’m going to finish him. There’s no more fake nut shots next time.” There has yet to be any word if Usman will do a rematch fight against Convington but there’s no doubt he will accept.

As defeating his opponents twice is definitely one of the best ways to create a legacy for himself, as he now also holds a №2 spot in the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC after №1 himself Jon Jones.

Without a doubt Usman right now is the best of what this sport has to offer with showing what a hardworking, dedicated immigrant boy can dream and accomplish.
